So-and-so’s friend, a girl in her teens, is babysitting for a family in Newport Beach, California. The family is wealthy and has a very large gated mansion— you know the sort, with endless areas of land, with a very prestigious manicured garden and with a ridiculous amount of rooms. Anyway, the parents are going out for a late dinner/movie. The father tells the babysitter that once the children are in bed she should go into this specific room he doesn’t really want her wandering around the house and watch TV there.

Although it’s the smallest room in the house, the interior furniture and design costed more than her entire house. A luxurious leather sofa, a huge LED 46 inch TV which is hung on the wall. A huge diamond lamp shade was hanging of the roof glistening causing and almost blinding sight. Huge triple glazed windows on the other side of the room and just above a chest of draws, a huge mirror which took up most of the wall it was hanging on. She was amazed, she had never seen a room as nice as this before.

The parents take off, soon after she gets the kids into their pyjamas and gets them in to bed, she goes to the room to watch TV. She gets comfy on the sofa. She puts on the TV and starts to watch her favourite series when all of a sudden, she is disturbed by a clown statue in the corner of the room.

She never noticed this clown before. This clown had a painted white face with a huge, petrifying smile painted on his face with a red the shade of blood. It looked as if it’s eyes were looking at her with a deadly stare which made her heart start to race. She tries to ignore it for as long as possible, but it starts freaking her out so much she starts shaking vigorously.

She already had a phobia of clowns from a very young age. On her sixth birthday, her parents hired a clown as entertainment for her and her friends but as soon as she saw the clown, she broke down in tears. She was petrified. Since that moment she has always hated clowns.

She resorts to calling the father and asks, “Hey, the kids are in bed, but is it okay if I switch rooms? This clown statue is really creeping me out.”

The father says seriously, “Get the kids, go next door and call 911.”

She asks, “What’s going on?”

He responds, “Just go next door and once you call the police, call me back.”

She gets the kids out of bed, puts their coats on over their pyjamas and sprinted outside the door. She takes them next door, and calls the police.

When the police are on the way, she calls the father back and asks him what’s going on.

He explains that they don’t have a clown statue. At this point, she can hear the father sounded terrified over the phone and he was panting running to the car trying to get back to the house. He then further explains that the children have been complaining about a clown watching them as they sleep. He and his wife had just blown it off, assuming that they were having nightmares.

The police arrive and go in to search the house. After a good half hour or so, they came out but their was no clown.

“We searched the whole house and we can assure you there is no clown inside”

Even with the reassurance from the police, she knew there was something there she knew that she was being watched by someone.

“I’m sorry, we searched the whole house but couldn’t find anything, no bit of the house was not investigated”

Soon after the parents turned up and spoke to the police officer in charge, they asked her to go get the kids ready to go back inside. As she is putting there coats on for them, she gets up to get her coat. She froze. The clown was outside the window facing the house. He turns round and spots her staring at him. He stared back at her with a pensive stare, but to her surprise he walked on heading down the road. To this day the clown has never been found.

Fate is expressed in many different ways in Romeo and Juliet. Shakespeare explores fate by allowing the audience to be party to his characters destiny. In the opening lines of the play the audience is told what is going to happen to the lovers: “a pair of star-cross’d lovers take their life.” This line is basically saying that two lovers kill then selves. Already at the beginning of the play you know what is going to happen later on. This is just one way Shakespeare explores fate in his play.

Another way Shakespeare explores fate in Romeo and Juliet, is when Mercutio shouts “a plague on both your houses” in Act 3, Scene 1, we are reminded of the protagonists’ fate. This bloody scene in which characters are killed gives us a glimpse of what fate has in store, marking the beginning of Romeo and Juliet’s tragic downfall. This is used cleverly because people wouldn’t normally realise it because it is hidden but they still know it’s there, it gives them that sense of mystery because if they do realise what Shakespeare is trying to do they will worry whether it is the time where Romeo and Juliet suffer there sad fate.

Fate wasn’t just explored in what the characters said but was also explored in what was happening in the play and the actions that were taken by the characters. An example if this is that the two families are enemies ( Capulet and Montague ) and they are not even allowed to be friends but some how Romeo and Juliet became star crossed lovers. This is fate because it didn’t just happen, it was meant to happen or in other words “it was written in the stars”. Another way fate was explored was when the messenger not getting the message to Romeo. This can be seen as fate because if it was meant to be the message would have reached Romeo and Romeo and Juliet would of had the best life together but Romeo did not get the message which led them to there sad ending.

But there is one point that got everybody stumped and it was Juliet waking up a few seconds to late to stop Romeo from drinking the poison. This is probably one of if not the saddest bit in the play and again it explores fate because it was fate that she woke up a few seconds late it was fate for Romeo to kill him self and it was her to kill them self because they were in love with each other and it was FATE.

Paris praying at Juliet’s tomb, encounters Romeo, they fight and Romeo kills Paris. Friar Lawrence is too late to save Romeo, who swallows the poison he bought in mantua where he was staying when he got banished and when Juliet sees his body she kills her self. Friar Lawrence explains everything.

Friar Lawrence learning that Romeo has not received his letter hurries to the capulets vault. Paris praying at Juliet’s tomb encounters Romeo they fight and Paris is killed. Friar Lawrence is too late to save Romeo who swallows the poison he bought in mantua and when Juliet sees his body she kills her self.

Although she is terrified, Juliet takes friars posion and then the capulet household prepares for the wedding, and the nurse goes to wake Juliet not knowing that she has taken friars posion then her family put her in the family grave and then the plan starts.

Benvolio and Mercutio discuss Tybalts challenge, and Romeo joins in their laughter-until Juliet’s nurse comes to find him. Romeo and Juliet get married. Friar Lawrence gives marriage advice to Romeo and includes this quote “these violent delights have violent ends” this means that the delight of there marriage can end as quickly as it began because there are huge risks but they don’t care then they get married.

Friar Lawrence tries to console Romeo and find a solution for the terrible problems that have arisen. Juliet’s father makes plans for his daughter to marry Paris and she doesn’t like the fact that she has to marry someone she doesn’t love so she asks the nurse for help. Romeo goes to the nurse and speaks to her about Juliet and said ” speak though of Juliet? How is it with her? Doth not she think me an old murderer. Now I have stained the childhood of our joy with blood removed but little from her own? Where is she? And how doth she? And what says my concealed lady to our cancelled love?” As you can see Romeo asks the nurse a lot of questions about Juliet because he is worried about her he then offers to stab him self but the nurse snatches the dagger away. This scene has Romeo nurse and friar Lawrence in them and they are talking about some problems that have occurred and a lot about Juliet.

In this scene mercutio and benvolio start talking about Romeo and then Romeo enters the room and Romeo starts to speak to mercutio about thugs that are relevant to love and in this scene it drops hints about death by using the word death a lot.

Sunday night

Romeo meets Juliet at the party then they start to talk to each other and they start to flirt with each other clearly showing that they love each other and they kiss not once but twice. Romeo asks the nurse who Juliet’s mom was not knowing that she is a Caplet then the nurse tells him that her mother is lady capulet and he starts to worry about there future life seen as there families are enemies. When all the guests leave, Juliet speaks to the nurse and the nurse tells her that he is a Montague and she states that she loves him using this quote “go ask his name if he be married, my grave is like to be my wedding bed”. This quote is saying that she needs to find out if Romeo had a girl friend and she means that they can’t be together because of there families so she will die loving him.
